20 years after the 8-bit classic was released, Bionic Commando Rearmed recreates the world of the original with a complete “2.5D” visual revamp. It is a bit disappointing that FatShark made what seems like a great decision to give the players more tools, yet squandered the opportunity to use them for truly unique gameplay situations.Classic side-scrolling gameplay is reporting back for duty with Bionic Commando Rearmed, a remake of the classic NES game, out now on PC. Very few of them, however, require tactics that demand the use of your varied arsenal or even your bionic arm. The visuals are updated to the year 2008s standards and it remains quite faithful to the gameplay and general mission structure of the 1989 game. There are also you standard soldiers, along with a few other robotic pests that try to make your life miserable. Part of the uselessness of some of these weapons comes down to the game’s enemies, of which there really aren’t that many.
